Purity requires your whole heart.

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.” -Psalm 119:9-10

Do you seek God with all your heart? Do you rejoice in following his statutes as one rejoices in great wealth (v. 14)? If you want to keep your way pure, then that desire has to go all the way to your core. Another word for purity is integrity–wholeness, unbrokenness, singleness of content and intent. To follow God you have to undergo not a single choice, but a process of developing your tastes. When you decide for something, you have to decide not only for today, but forever. And you have to be willing to make that decision every day.

That’s because living according to God’s word is, naturally, an entire life direction. It’s an endeavor that never rests. It’s not only your choices, but your desires.

So, what are you doing to shape your desires? What are you doing to develop a taste for God’s word? How do you plan to build a life that hungers for God alone? You can afford nothing less.
